IFN for Traffic Assignment

Traffic assignment models are used to estimate the traffic flows on a network. In this video, you will learn how to do traffic assignment based on Ideal Flow Network (IFN).

Network Structure and Utilization in Weaving Section – Graph Theory in Transportation Science

This video is part of a series of tutorials on our research output in Graph Theory related to Transportation Science. By the mean of a simple example, I will show you the mathematical formula that I and Dr. Fernandez have discovered. In this video, I will use a weaving section as our example. The weaving section is important in traffic engineering in designing the length and width of road sections leading to a U-turn, a roundabout, or a highway ramp. I would like to show you the relationship between network utilization in terms of the Flow matrix and the Generalized Origin Destination Flow matrix and network structure in terms of the Adjacency matrix.
