PedLab Help in Study of Road Construction on SOM Forest

PedLab conducted a study on the road extension project. Results of his simulation showed that a two-way road from the New Rizal Library to JSEC/Moro Lorenzo Football Field would only improve the current road network’s average speed by 0.03%, while a one-way road would increase this by 0.01%. Adding a two-way road or a one-way road would also increase the median travel time per kilometer from 90.96 to 91.01 seconds.

Walkable and Bike Friendly in Katipunan

Walkable Katipunan Idea

Katipunan road, which only about 2km in length, is vital to the Philippines economic because it is a national road which is part of Circumferential Road 5 (C5) utilized by more than 100,000 vehicles per day. Three major universities of the Philippines (UP Diliman, Ateneo de Manila and Miriam College) and several major schools are densely located or closely connected in this road. The total population of the universities and schools in this area summed up to more than 70,000 people with estimated about 33% are densely living within Katipunan district.

We proposed to Government of Quezon City and MMDA to improve the walkway and bike friendly Katipunan by reversing the walkway to be in the inner side of the public right of way.
